Phoretix International is a division of Nonlinear Dynamics Ltd which develops the Phoretix range of image analysis products. The company recently won a Shell sponsored Business Links regional award "In Recognition of Outstanding Business Development" and was highly ranked amongst the national finalists. Over the past four years the company has expanded each year with respect to staffing, turnover and profitability and Phoretix Products are fast becoming recognised throughout the World as technical and market leaders.

Nonlinear Dynamics Ltd was set up in 1989 by Will Dracup for the development of high end software products for the PC at a time when similar products were being produced for Workstations, Mini-computers, or associated with special image analysis hardware. The reasoning was that the PC would become much faster and more powerful and that the Windows operating system would progress at a similar rate. In 1993 Phoretix International was established as the marketing arm for the Phoretix range which is specifically aimed at the electrophoresis and TLC markets. Within a few short years the company has sold hundreds of packages throughout the world via a network of dealers, OEM distributors and by direct sales. Many Universities, Research Institutes, Pharmaceutical companies and similar organisations benefit from having Phoretix products, with many sites being multiple licence holders.

Phoretix software is in use in Japan, USA, Germany, Austria, Taiwan, France, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Norway, Singapore, Switzerland and, of course, the UK. In 1994, the company won a UK Department of Trade & Industry SMART award to fund the development of a product for a new technique in genome analysis. The second stage of this award has recently been granted for further development.
